The Batter - Rule 6
More Batter Outs
Batter touched by ball before touching fielder (Rule 6.05(f)). Batter is out even if accidental. Ball is dead.
After hitting ball fair, bat hits ball second time (Rule 6.05(f)). Depends on what hit what - if ball hits against dropped bat, keep playing. If bat dropped into ball - out and ball is dead.
After hitting foul ball, intentionally deflects ball (Rule 6.05(h)). Accidentally or mindlessly kicking ball does not count. Typically happens as batter first starting to run and ball nearby. If still in batter's box, just call foul.
1B running lane violation (Rule 6.05(j). The running lane begins half way (30') between home and first and is bordered by the 1B foul line and another line drawn 3 feet to its right (sometimes, it is not drawn and you'll have to imagine it). When running the last 1/2 of the way to 1B, the batter must be entirely in the running lane (both feet must be on or inside of the running lane). If the runner is not and, in your judgment, interferes with the taking of the throw by the fielder taking the throw at first, the batter is out. The trick here is the catcher must throw. Any half way decent throw and the runner is out. No throw = no penalty.
